You may not like the products that are American made, but they have done more for this country then any import crap ever will, our American cars have been proving themselves since the 1960′s, when two L88 Corvettes came in first and second place at the twenty four hour of Daytona road race.

You may say the Germans build a better , stronger, and faster super car, but even to this day you’d be wrong, the 2009 ZR1 Corvette out handles, and out runs any German car, and does it for a lot less money, GM hit the nail on the head with this car.

This is just a short article to put forward my disgust for people who live in this country, but refuse to be Americans, they refuse to buy anything that is American made always giving quality as an excuse, if you love European quality so much move to Europe, and join them.

We not only build the best cars, but the beast of everything, I do not shop Walmart, or any Anti-American organization like that, I shop places where I can find American made products, you just try to find any of that at a Walmart.

It’s time for the America bashing to stop, it’s time for Obama to quit going around the world bashing this country, it’s time for the people who live here to quit bashing this country, if you don’t like it leave it, are are free to do that, but is you remain here, be an American.

From the mid to early 1970′s a new breed of cars ruled the American streets. The majority of these were intermediate sized automobiles with large block engines stuffed inside. At first these cars were called “super cars” and over time they became know more accurately as muscle cars. The quarter mile was the performance standard and weekend drag racing became very popular.

Many of these cars pulled weekday duty as commuter vehicles, taking their proud owners to work and school. But, on the weekend the guys at the wheel were full fledged “amateur” dragsters. For the first time (and many would argue the only time) in American automotive history, high performance vehicles were available to the masses.

The average Joe with a decent job could go to his local dealership and drive away with a ground pounding, tire smoking muscle car. Additionally, in a time before complicated emission controls and computer chips, an average Joe could actually working on his pride.

As the list of the twenty fastest muscle cars points out, the majority of the beasts had domesticated roots. The Road Runners, Chevelles and Chargers were all basic family cruisers. What made them special was those wonderfully powerful big block engines.

Even the Camaros and ‘Cudas were decent transportation for the young man with a couple of small children. Only the Corvettes and the Cobra were initially created as sports cars.

As everyone over this generation knows, the muscle car became extinct in the early 1970′s. Rising fuel costs, rising insurance premiums and new safety concerns marked the end of this era. Today the original muscle cars are one of the hottest automotive collectables. Men of a certain age are aggressively bidding for the car of their youthful dreams.

In my searches on the net I ran in to some great information about one of the super car builders of the 1960′s, I must say I love this news, as far as performance, and the new SS camaro news doesn’t get any better then this, I’m sure if your a camaro fan at all you’ve heard of Nickey camaros.

Nickey Chicago plans to build a 427 LS7 powered 2010 camaro that will put out 700 HP, this for a camaro freak is great news, it will help the new camaro get the fame it so much deserves, all of the details are not yet worked out, but this is exciting for you if your a camaro freak like me.

However; many of the details are now available, and we’ll get in to the details that we know about in this article, we do know that it will be a lot like the original Nickey of the 1960′s, with three stages of the camaro mods available, Stage I, Stage II, and Stage III camaros will be available.

If you know anything about Nickey this should get your blood pumping, Nicky has established a dealer network that they feel confident will be able to promote their new Camaro super cars, these dealers will at some point have Nickey Camaros in stock.

After all of the studying that I have done on the ZR1 Corvette, I have learned a few things, the car is hand built, it has a carbon fibre front clip, and the best cam last night, as I seen a test drive of the 2009 Zr1 Corvette on the autobahn last night.

All I can say is, my god what an awesome car, it can hang with the best of them, pulling 1.1 G on the skidpad when being tested, dynoed 571 RWH the Zr1 Corvette is one of the best performance cars on the road today, with a 217 mph top speed in can contend with the best of Europe.

If you don’t like Corvette for whatever reason, maybe it’s time you learned to, possibly your a Viper guy, and their is nothing wrong with that, but I’m here to tell you, they do not hammer the Zr1 Corvette in any way, Chevrolet has done a fantastic job building hand crafted car.

From the supercharged 6.2 Liter engine, and carbon ceramic brakes, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 60-0 97 feet, and an 11.2 second ¼ mile @ 130 MPH, if you don’t like these numbers, or you don’t believe them, they can be backed up by visiting motor trend’s web site.

Possibly your an import car freak, who think American cars aren’t capable of this kind of performance, in that case you’d be wrong, I’ve seen video of this car destroying the best of them, and not just one video, a lot of them, it kills the Nissan GTR, and not by just a little bit, it does it in every test.

Once again I say buy American, it’s the right choice, the Zr1 Corvette out runs, out handles, and out stops all the top imports, it’s the king of the road, and if you don’t like it oh well, it will hammer you down one day, and you’ll be proud to say I was beat by an American car.

After some more research on the new camaro, which is due to hit the showroom floor in mid 2008, for the 2009 year, I have learned that Chevrolet has done a superior job in the design and construction of this car, form the interior to the retro exterior look of the car.

This car should attract buyers from all realms of the muscle car era, I know for sure that it has impressed me, and I’m not that easy to impress, I used to own a 1969 Z/28 camaro, and I think that the new version has just enough of the 1969 camaro built in to it to be a real player in the muscle car market.

I’ll be the first to admit that when I first seen the 2009 camaro I didn’t really like it, but then I really began to do some hard research on the idea behind the camaro, what I have realized is that the new version came about after GM done some research of their own.

They have listened to what the people that will be buying the car are saying, they have researched the sales of the Ford mustang, and looked at the things that are making it sell better, or worse, and trying to design a car that takes the best of their findings in to consideration, I think this is a good formula.

Their trying to keep the price down on the base models, so people can afford to buy them, they have went with 20” rims rather then 22”, a very good choice in my opinion, this will help to lower their cost to manufacture the car, and help it to retain some of the muscle car attitude that the camaro needs to have.

The interior reminds me of the cockpit of an airplane, while being really retro in the design of the dash and instrumentation of the car, it even has a center console that would remind me of the 1969 SS, or Z/28 camaro, and this is a very good thing.

They have done a great job of sticking to the roots of what a camaro should be, in the 1960′s the camaro was a cutting edge muscle car, and the camaro of today is destined to be the same thing again, camaro became a household word in the 1960′s, and I think it will again.

In my best estimate the camaro should bring Chevrolet muscle car freaks out in droves to check it out, and it should give the sales at Chevrolet a much needed push, I know I will be there when the first one rolls on to the showroom floor at the dealership, I already want to buy one of these mean cars.

My friends have given me the nick name Mr. Camaro, I am a camaro freak from the first day I stepped foot in to a 1969 camaro that my neighbor owned, I knew I had to have one, just the same as I do now, I need one of these so bad that my teeth ache as I wait.

Just like they did when I bought my 1969 camaro as a kid, and I will get another one of those also, don’t get me wrong, I have not given up the old, just to own the new, I sill know where my roots are, and where they will always be.

Pontiac GTO – The First True Muscle Car

General Introduction:

Pontiac GTO is built by General Motors Holden in Australia from 2003 to date. However, General Motors is not the first one to build this muscle car. It was an automobile built by Pontiac from 1964 to 1974.

However, there are a few major differences in both of these company’s models of Pontiac GTO. The major one is — General Motor’s Pontiac GTO is a left hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore; where as the old one from Pontiac was closely related to the Pontiac Tempes for most of the time and to Pontiac Ventura at the latter times.

First Generation Models:

In its existence, GTO has gone through several changes in almost all the dimensions along with its design. The first Pontiac GTO (in 1964) was an option package for the Pontiac LeMans, available with the two-door sedan, hardtop coupe, and convertible body styles. After that a few other variants made available until 1968. All these models can be called first generation GTOs.

Second Generation Models:

The second generation GTO came into existence from General Motors. GM redesigned its A-body line for 1968, with more curvaceous, “bustleback” fastback styling. A unique feature was the body-color Endura front bumper. It was designed to absorb impact without permanent deformation at low speeds. These second generation models were in existence up to 1972, with some minor variations in each of the models.

Final Models:

The final models came into existence from then onwards. The 1973 GTO models shared the re skinned A-body with its “Colonnade” hardtop styling, which eliminated true hardtop design because of the addition of a roof pillar but retention of frameless door work. Rear side windows were now of a fixed design that could not be opened and in a triangular shape. Fans of the original GTO considered the appropriation of a famous muscle car by a Japanese automaker to be sacrilegious

These models were in existence with some minor modifications until 1999. However, the popularity seems to be decreasing day after day because of the age old technology used in the engines, even in the 21st century models. This has thrown Pontiac GTO into some real hard times. In 21st century, came the time of revival for this great model which is quite often called, “The first true muscle car”.

Revival of Pontiac GTO:

There would have been no better market than United States, which is definitely the mother of automobile industry, to re-launch this great model. Based on the platform of Holden Monaro’s V, The Pontiac GTO was re launched in the United States in late 2003. The Monaro is a 2 door coupe variant of the Australian developed VT/VX Holden Commodore. The Commodore was in turn developed by enlarging the European designed 1994 Opel Omega B, which was marketed in its original form in the U.S. from 1997 to 2001 as the Cadillac Catera.

Pontiac GTO also tried its fortunes with the sports models in 2005 and 2006. Despite of great expectations from the automobile legend General Motors, Pontiac GTO’s sports models are not a great success story. Again critics say that the models don’t have enough powerful engines to support their caliber as 21st century’s sports models.

Critics on Pontiac’s GTO:

Right from the time of first generation GTO, critics are not too impressed with these models. Most of them say that the engines are not of the cutting edge technologies of their times. Some critics even went ahead and said that any of the models of GTO are 5 years old in terms of technology when compared to any of their peers.

Despite of all these criticisms, Pontiac’s GTO is a real good success which is quite evident from its long run of more than 35 years. And, even the future looks quite bright for this model as new markets are opening up for models like Pontiac’s GTO.

Currently, Pontiac GTO is trying its luck in Australia, with more than 6 variants. One most exciting part of GTO’s models are their colors. Every year, GTO adds at least 2 to 3 more colors to its range, especially to attract youth population towards it’s models.
