Muscle Car Madness

With Dodge re-releasing the challenger, and Chevrolet re-releasing the camaro, I think that a return of the muscle cars is up on us, and for a muscle car freak like me, this is a good good thing, it’s one of those that I thought would never happen, with all the tree huggers, hippies, and general whiners out these, I just figured that my dream to see the old American muscle again would be flushed away like so many classic American cars.

With all the people in this country that seem to think that import cars are built better, and so many people that just don’t believe in our country any more, I never thought that this day would come, I heard all the whining about these cars that first time around, I still remember t copy of car craft magazine that had a head stone on the front, the head stone read something like this high performance born in 1950; died in 1979, how true it was, and this due to the whiners, like Ralph Nader, the high performance world’s fly in the ointment .

They tried to assassinate American muscle, by making muscle cars out to be the bad guy, they singled then out as monsters, as dinosaurs, that had a hunger to destroy the world, while just ignoring the luxury car that were doing the same thing at the time, you could no longer buy a muscle car, but a Cadillac, or a Lincoln was no problem for the powers that be, a gas guzzling Mercedes, or Bentley was no big deal, but a camaro was just horrible, a corvette was a step below that, and it got worse that more hungry you were for American muscle.

When they discovered that people like Ralph Nader couldn’t kill the American muscle car, well then it was time to get the insurance companies involved in this little issue, they came in and raised the insurance rate that the dealers had to pay to have these car on their lots for sale, but it still didn’t take down the big boys, like Yenko, Baldwin, and a few other select companies, they kept the faith, until it no longer made sense to them.

That was the 1960′s and 70′s, it’s now 2008, and a return of American muscle in in the works, with Ford re-releasing the mustang, and Chevy continuing work on the corvette, and not the camaro, and Dodge is re-releasing the challenger, I’m loving it, this is very very good for a guy like me, I guy who eats, sleeps, and breathes muscle cars, I guy who is still and American, a guy who does not believe that import cars are better the our American cars, a guy who believes in our country, and it’s cars.

I’m proud to be an American, and I’m proud to drive and American built truck, I have owned Toyota’s and other import cars, and they did not in any way out last, out perform, or out do in any way a good old American car, a Chevy, a Ford, or a Mopar product, and it will never happen in my eyes, because I love American cars, I can rebut any point that an import car lover brings up, it can never be proved that imports are a better choice and an American car.

I wonder if they will come up with a real hybrid muscle car in the near future.
